Craving a McBride Special!
My biggest concern when all the transfers were released: Replace them with upgrades and hopefully considerable upgrades. I think so far, we have done that by far. If you look at the three announced additions so far as replacing Gooch, Francois and Jeremic, I think we have improved by leaps and bounds. It's a little tougher to replace proven seniors like Cook, Benson, McGill and Suggs, so that's where you hope for Banks and Butler to grow into some day. The only X-factor so far with who we have to replace is Davis, who IMO had the highest upside of those transferring out and who we need still need to recruit to fill the void (big guard/wing).
Agree with this and was thinking along the same line. A classic case of "addition by subtraction."
BM and staff have overachieved again.
March on triumphantly!

Need poutine stands next to the Dippin' Dots stands at the Arena
Oh Canadaaaaaa
We stand on guard for thee.
Gonna need a maple leaf flag for the Banterrena.
Like the way things are trending. Keep'em coming.

I'm afraid we are running out of minutes for a major impact Grad-Transfer that is looking for more playing time. That could vary though if Verplanken has to sit and if Filewich red shirts.
Dawgs could still end up with a very good Grad-transfer that doesn't care about the minutes they play but wants to be on a team that wins! I'm sure there are still some players like that out there.
On the PG front the Dawgs currently have 3 guards that are listed as points on VC; Brown, Banks, and Butler. Verplanken has been described as a Combo Guard in much of the media about him. And there is always Lance Jones that did a stellar job last year playing point for the first time in his career. I could see a Grad-Transfer PG, but if the NCAA rule changes this summer, minutes could get slim!
You still have both Harvey and Domask that have brought the ball up on some possessions and started the offense too,
I think there's an open spot in the starting lineup for a graduate transfer 2 guard. I don't think you're starting Verplancken if he's eligible to play and you're probably not starting Brown or Butler. I think you can get someone decent by offering good minutes and a starting spot. Remember, they were recruiting Staton-McCray and Jeremiah Williams hard and those are guys you give a starting spot right away to get.
Starters:
Jones/Grad Transfer SG/Domask/Harvey/D'Avanzo
Bench:
Muila/Banks/Butler/Verplancken/Brown/Dembele/Filewich/13th Scholarship/Keller/Gibson
Who will be the defensive "lock down their best scorer" guy? Brown starts?
@maroonloon this is what Mullins expects. He expects to get good players to come to SIU. No overachieving!
Jones/Grad Transfer SG/Domask/Harvey/D'Avanzo
Could be. I think right now we are looking at Jones/Domask/Harvey/D'Avanzo/Mulia
D'Avanzo by the looks of it can play on the wing pretty well.

You're correct. It's over achieving in the sense of what this program use to be.
I still have a little BH hangover.
March on triumphantly!
There is a good chance this thread breaks 100 pages have we done that on the new site yet?

A little leap of faith necessary as I haven't seen him play, but everything I read says that could very well be Eric Butler. Big 6'3" with a strong defense first personality. Maybe Brown if he continues to progress.

Yeah, I see Muila as a likely starter at this point for his defense and athleticism. Otherwise, aside from Jones, it's not the quickest group.
Welcome Canadian Dawgs... One more on the way, aye?
This is an all time great post right here. HOF worthy
