I might have to open a Canadian restaurant in town if this trend continues. 🤣
Better find a pirogi recipe!

Who will be the defensive "lock down their best scorer" guy? Brown starts?
Eric Butler. I will be very surprised if Banks isn’t starting PG before year is over.

This is me being superstitious, redshirting as a freshman means you are a graduate your senior year.

Sorry, I hate to ask but is there confirmation Sekou will return next year. Just seems playing time would be crowded if another big is added. Just a thought 🥱

Okoro would be a step up over Dembele. 6'9 230 consensus 4 star coming out of high school.
@annabob admittedly I've only seen tape of him and it's produced to put him in a good light but the kid moves his feet very well. He has good hands and makes quick and good decisions. I think you might see him get a few minutes here and there and by the end of the year on the floor in key situations

With that list, we’d better hope Brendan and him were BFFs when Brendan coached in Normal.
I think there's an open spot in the starting lineup for a graduate transfer 2 guard. I don't think you're starting Verplancken if he's eligible to play and you're probably not starting Brown or Butler. I think you can get someone decent by offering good minutes and a starting spot. Remember, they were recruiting Staton-McCray and Jeremiah Williams hard and those are guys you give a starting spot right away to get.
Starters:
Jones/Grad Transfer SG/Domask/Harvey/D'Avanzo
Bench:
Muila/Banks/Butler/Verplancken/Brown/Dembele/Filewich/13th Scholarship/Keller/Gibson
Jones could not have done a better job, considering the circumstances, as a fill in PG, but I don't believe the staff will be looking for him to be the main PG this season. I would think they'd slide him over to the SG position and let a TRUE PG handle the rock. You'd not only have less TO's, but it would allow Jones to excel at his natural position.
That being said, what Mullins has done with ALL these recruits is allow him to play a wide variety of lineups to both create havoc for the other team, but also match up with another team's strength.
We need another 5 man. While I like Muila a lot for this team, I'm not sold that he's a 30 minutes/game type of contributor; injury history, poor free-throw shooting, possible penchant for fouling etc. and if somebody goes down with an injury for a lengthy amount of time, we'll be in a tight spot again.
D'Avanzo will get minutes at the 5, but that'll likely be more situational than regular and we'll probably prefer it that way. He'll get more minutes at the 4 than the 5 spot, IMO.
Well we got another 5 man and judging by Mullins interview , doesn't sound as if he expects the guy to redshirt.
Thank you!! Granted D'Avanzo may get some spot minutes at the 5, similar to what Gooch got this year, or maybe not even that much as it appears we have more options this year at the 5. At 205 he isn't going to get extended minutes at the 5 playing against the Krutwigs, Prim, and the big guy from UNI (don't remember his name)
