This is so much more fun.
Not too long ago, there were people on this board bitching about the likes of Fillyaw and Pendleton being "run out of here" and the promise of the likes of Leo Vincent.
Which is not to run down those kids, but isn't this a whole lot better? 🙂
Man you have that right! I’m sitting here reading this with a big smile on my face this morning, and chuckling about the doom and gloom on this board just a few days ago. We hit the wall late last season because we had no bench, now we are worried about everybody getting enough playing time, I love it!
In the same vein, I am worried that we are still recruiting bigs. we have so many already, why aren't we going after guards 🤣 😀 . I still like Makoui however
Unless I am missing something (or someone), not sure how much I agree about too many bigs. We have a true freshman, who by all accounts is raw and may take time to develop. We will have a juco transfer junior, who should be good by late season (maybe sooner). We have a one year transfer grad who is more of a stretch 4 that a true 5. We have a 6-7 somewhat smaller 5 who has shown very little to this point, who is also questionable due to a serious injury. I'd say we may need another for next year and certainly more for down the road.
Absolutely agree. A big Big would be awesome ... or a big forward like say .... Ashraf Amaya!!!
I'm not a bit worried about guard.
@81dawg I think Bryan said in the podcast with Reis that one of the reasons they liked Filewich was that they thought he could play immediately. Watching him I think he gets a little playing time at first and that it increases as the year goes on and will find him in ever increasing key times in the game
Like what Mullins and company are doing restoring class balance also I am a big believer in some recruits benefit from a redshirt year also it is fun to have conversations about positive recruiting of good people that happen to play basketball go DAWGS

This one is definitely a bummer especially b/c at one time we were in a pretty good position to land him.
Just an FYI. Good for him. He should get PT
“Former Belleville Althoff star & Southern Illinois transfer Brendon Gooch @bgoocch22 has committed to #McKendree!”
Too bad about Williams, but this has been an absolute thrill ride of a recruiting season and it is probably not over yet.

We should definitely expect at least one more piece to the puzzle here this spring/summer.

Good luck to Gooch. He was given difficult assignments and he did everything he was asked to do.

It will be interesting to find out if Verplancken can compete immediately. I think this NCAA Division 1 Council vote will greatly effect what Bryan does with the final two scholarships for 20-21. I will be surprised if we hear of any new SIU commitments until after this vote.
Article on NCAA Division 1 Council on the one time transfer rule.
A proposed waiver that would allow all athletes to transfer once without being required to sit out for a season at their new school will be discussed when the NCAA Division I Council meets in April. From there, a vote will follow on May 20, MAC commissioner Jon Steinbrecher told Stadium.

That makes sense to a point, but if there is a recruit that this staff is after and there are other options for said recruit, I can see them making it happen. At least with one of the schollys.
Looks like Okoro is committing to ISU, per Twitter.
I'm pretty sure that was fake news on the Okoro front. He didn't tweet anything it was just some lonely Turds fan.
