Good get, just what we needed, and as has been mentioned he was our main target. This leaves us with a scholarship to use on the deep 2022 class. If we hadn't signed a grad transfer we wouldn't have any rides right now for 2022.
I can see us starting:
6'2" Banks PG
6'1" Jones SG
6'7" Coupet Jr. 3rd guard/wing
6'6" Domask F
6'8" Muila C
More athletic starting lineup, but plenty of other guys will get lots of playing time. May not have enough playing time to go around, as we may be a very solid 13 or 14 deep. Even though we have 4 centers I can see Dembele being an emergency plan if we have injury problems like we did last year. This year we can probably sustain a couple injuries and be ok. Last year we didn't have the depth.
Bottom line is this shapes up as a really deep team with a lot of potential lineup combos, a high degree of versatility and intense competition for playing time looming, especially in an era with little-to-no redshirting. Plenty for Bryan and Co. to work with.
In terms of the lineup you pose here, I could see it, though assuming they don't add another PG, wondering if Jones might stay at point and have Banks come off the bench, as those two are the only true PG options. That's the one position where depth could be a bit of an issue if there is an injury.
My guess is that the staff is hoping Trent can step up and assume some minutes at the point when needed, especially now with all the 2 guard/wing depth. It seems like they've been slowly grooming him as an option there the last couple years.
--Insert something witty here--
Pretty level headed posters on the Little Rock board. Sounds like he was liked and they wish he had stayed. Most are saying it's a lateral move, which given SIU's recent struggles is probably fairly accurate, for now. However, SIU definitely has a higher upside for next year, his last year playing college ball. Also, who knows what else may have been going on to make him decide a move was warranted.
Lateral move 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ok they might want to look at the MVC next year

I think they are correct in regards to SIU and Little Rock being comparable if you base it on the last couple years, and are comparing the teams only. No doubt the MVC is a much better conference overall than the Sun Belt. However, Little Rock had a very good team 2 years ago, better than Southern's team that year. Last year, the teams were fairly comparable, as both had disappointing years. Next year, barring something strange happening Southern will be much better than Little Rock.

I’ll give them that the two teams may not have been that different the past two years, but there is no doubt Southern is a step up in terms of program and stage. Little Rock, in 2019 when they won the Sun Belt, averaged 1500 fans. Southern averaged 4500. And there is no comparing the quality of the conferences.
"I feel like I bring a lot of grit, and a lot of Chicago style of play, and athleticism, and free game type of game," Coupet said. "With the way that SIU can shoot the ball, and the way we can start out getting out in transition, that's the way of basketball now, and going in that direction will not only help me but help the other guys on the team grow, and this year could be really special."

Ok I like him a lot already
sounds like he comes with character and some basketball smarts. SIU could use a little Chicago. Just sayin'
WOOF!

Bryan only brings in champions with a high IQ if they are not high character they are not recruited end of story

In before a certain poster calls him slow and unathletic lol
I waited to reply so I can watch some film on this young man. Quick = Check, Athletic = Check. Doesn't seem to be a big scorer, assist man ,etc. Likely more of a piece to the puzzle than to be a leading guy. For those who are very excited about this pick up, I'd like your unbiased honest thoughts on why you are excited.
For now, I remain "In Mullins We Trust".
Go Dawgs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was all conference just sayin 😁
He is an athletic 6-7 wing. SIU desperately needed that. He is a very good piece off the bench. May even start is his D is up to it.

I do not think he was all conference in the Sun Belt. However, everything else you mentioned is certainly accurate.

It would not surprise me to see D'Amico play some minutes at the point also. The 2021-2022 Dawgs will have multiple players that can bring the ball up the court and run the offense.
