First, I now want a Quatro's Challenge pizza so badly...thanks for that... 😜

Second - with all the new players signed, when does the school update the roster? Is it not official for them to update until the academic year resets and the kids are officially enrolled on campus?

I always want Quatro's Challenge pizza. lol

Glad I could help. 🙂

I understand that... but neither of those are in what I counted as a 6 player class..... plus maybe more.

How do you figure a six person class at this point?

Dembele, Taggart, Jones, Brown, Domask, and after a redshirt, Harvey.... they are all in the '22-'23 class

I understand one or two may redshirt, which will help balance it out, but as of right now its 6 players.... plus still three open scholorships so it could theoretically end up a 9 player class.

I don’t believe we should include Taggert in this group because he doesn’t have a basketball scholarship. Nevertheless, it shapes up to be a large class at this point, especially with 3 scholarships left.

I agree with you Cowboydawg on Taggert.  Whether he shows up or not, Chris Payton has a scholarship and is part of that 6 person class as of right now.

all of what you guys have recapped above makes sense - it's going to be a big class and will be interesting to see how this team gels under Mullins's leadership. Mullins should be a great coach for us and I hope this new crop of players respect him and his philosophy on how the team should operate. Having Mr. Basketball players in prior years made for primadona players that played selfish ball and underperformed. Reading about Domask he doesn't seem like that kind of guy. Really excited for next season and wish it was already November!

Sorry, you are right. I forgot that Harvey would become part of that class. However, I would expect Taggart to redshirt since he will likely be a football redshirt.

Do walk-ons have years of eligibility? I assumed since no scholarship involved specific to basketball Taggart could play as long as he likes...how random would it be if some guy was legit good enough to be a useful walk on and took 10 years to get through college and recorded stats in all 10 years. Ha 🤣

Back in the day, you could do the four years over any period.  Now, you have 5 years to complete the 4.  Of course, NCAA medical exemptions, and the like, can move the needle.

I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!

We're not sure yet if William will be eligible this year or next

It appears Payton changed his name to "Committed" for the Grid!  😉

I'm not concerned about whether Payton shows up at SIU or not, just thought it was interesting that one media member ranked him top 5 in Illinois given the fact he did not play his full Senior year!
