With Stevan Jeremic leaving, that gives us three scholarships to work with.
Make it four and counting with Francois also transferring ...
Now 5 open scholarships with Davis gone and 6 if Cook leaves. That's a lot of spots to fill.
My guess is the Bryan and staff have spent this entire year recruiting numerous playes because they understood the likelihood of players transferring at the end of the year. The game is different today. I think you have to plan on picking up at least three guys a year, even if you are full because of the way the game has changed. And...if they enact the free one time transfer rule this year allowing a player to transfer one time without sitting out watch it really go crazy.
Here is my theory. I have no info these are just my thoughts. Davis and Francois were guys looking for a shot, a jump start. One because of being under recruited and one coming off awful injuries. So Bryan recruits them at the end saying, I am going to give you a D1 life line, but I am recruiting and I may be recruiting over you, but this gives you a chance to make a name for yourself and those kids needing to jump start their college careers take that deal. They then realize, hey the guys coming in and that are here are better than me and my playing time is not going to go up here, so I need to move on just like we thought I might when I committed here... Plausible?

I think it's more likely they were pissed off that Brown was playing over them, but everyone's entitled to a theory. 😛
Careful....I got censored for that kind of talk! 😉
With the extra scholarships now, I wonder if we might be looking at a very good local player at Marion. Not a big, but we now need a couple of wings. He’s 6-6, a very good scorer and handles the ball well. He broke Greg Starrick’s h.s. scoring record.
@cowboydawg signed with Eastern I believe
Think Jackson Connor was offered by Eastern Illinois but it doesn't look like he's signed anywhere yet. He was offered by Idaho last week according to his Twitter

Not doubting you @cowboydawg, but I can't find a commitment from him on his Twitter account. Jackson Conner received another offer from Idaho on March 18, 2020.

He made the Chicago Sun-Times All-State 3A, 2nd Team.

Not sure if he fits the type of player Bryan and company are recruiting, but local players always increase the number of season ticket holders in Carbondale.
@cowboydawg He broke Starrick's record, if Starrick had the 3 he would still have it. Just like Maravich who scored 44 a game and would have been 50 if he'd have been able to shoot the 3

This kid is really good! Got great touch, great hands, can shoot it, drive it, great moves around the basket. Impressive high school player! I hope we're in on him!
Offensively, Connor is a great fit for the MVC. He is a very talented scorer. Defensively, he is not a fit for what Mullins wants to do, IMO. He also has had quite a few maturity issues throughout his HS career, though he seems to have improved significantly in that domain. Overall, I just don't see him as the type of recruit Mullins is looking for.
