Hefferman mentions the kids we lost to Oregon State and Ole Miss/Cal/Buffalo in his article. Would have been nice to get them but those aren't really recruiting misses. Coulibaly would be a pretty big miss if they were actually recruiting him but I'm not so sure how serious they were there. It's possible we're in a holding pattern right now as kids look to see what the high major programs do.
Exactly right.
Hefferman mentions Adong Makuoi (6'9 Sophomore Daytona State), Steven Verplancken Jr. (6'4 Sophomore Glenville State), Amar Brown (6'8 Veritas Prep), Jayden Johnson (6'6 Batavia High School) as possible recruits.
"Possible recruits "not really sure if they are priority recruits and we truly want them and miss on them.
This is what I am talking about.
Yeah I think this is only a random list of possible targets and not specifically guys that they have a high priority on. They're surely looking at D1 transfers as well.
Jayden Johnson is mentioned in this article from the Chicago Tribune yesterday about how UIC offered before they fired their coach and Western Michigan has interest. No mention of SIU though:
Before anyone goes there, I am NOT panicking. That being said, I am genuinely disappointed that I had today circled on my calendar as the big opening day of Spring signings and after a full year of full recruiting, and having 5 open scholarships, not one player (as of this post) signed today or even verballed. I was really hoping for some positive news this am, especially after the $hitshow at work this week. Still hopeful, or even expecting, good things to come, but as Tom Petty once told me, the waiting is the hardest part.
I found more information on who SIU has offered from Verbal Commits in 30 seconds than in the entire Hefferman article. If you go to verbal commits then click on conferences then click Missouri Valley then click on SIU down at the bottom it gives about 8-10 names that we have offered.

Yeah, I was trying to figure out who this is and I couldn't find anything. All I got was a Malik from Quartz Hill High School in California
This is not a 2020 recruit guys. It is Malik Morris from Quartz Hill HS in Lancaster, Calif.
What class is he?
There is a post somewhere in this thread that lists all the offers

Kellen Tynes 6'2" PG RNS (Canada) - Spent most of last Monday on phone/facetime with Coaching Staff of Quinnipiac University. I think he'd be a good get and I don't think we're out of it yet.
Koreem Ozier 6'1" Soph PG Sacred Heart
Jeremiah Williams 6'5" SF Chicago Simeon
Rameon Hinton 6'4" SG Chicago Curie - Some folks seem to think he's already verballed to Kent State, but I couldn't find anything official. He'd be a very good get, as his stock has risen significantly this season.
Anthony Hunter, Jr. 6'0" PG Durango HS
Antwuan Butler 6'0" PG Soph Austin Peay

I agree. Not panicking, but thoroughly disappointed we don't have word on any new signings. Given the 5 open scholarships, Mullins & Co have some serious work to do.
We can cross off Koreem Ozier. He just announced his final 6 and we're not in it. Malik Zachery just committed to Buffalo, but we knew we were out on him. Dawgs Basketball has added several more transfers we are in contact with since I made that list:
Trevor Lakes 6'7" F Indianapolis University

Connor Niego 6'9" F Holy Cross (2 years eligibility?)

Soccer signs six and basketball signs zero today?
I'm not worried about soccer, but I did see that our rivals in the MVC were busy signing today.
